Peace Garden Dedication Aug 2012

An ecumenical service of celebration and communion surrounded the dedication of a Peace Garden at Holy Redeemer on Aug 19, 2012. Assisting in worship with Pastor John were Synod Bishop Mark Holmerud, Rev. Vernon Holmes who gave the sermon and Rabbi Dana Magat from neighboring Temple Emanu-el who shared a reading in Hebrew and English.

The Peace Garden, open to the public, includes a labyrinth and peace pole the installation of which were the Eagle Scout Project of Holy Redeemer member, Eddy Vicari.

Dedication Prayers

Bishop Mark Holmerud:

We give you thanks, O God, creator of the universe, for your abundant gifts.By your holy wisdom all things have been made to reflect your glory, for the sustenance of life, and for the use and delight of your living creatures.

Send your blessing upon us and upon this Peace Garden, which we set apart today to your praise and honor.

Give us joy in all your works, and grant that this Peace Garden may always be a place where your will is done, peace is sought, and your name is glorified; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

(The 3 signs are uncovered)

Bless these signs that proclaim that this is a Peace Garden and that the public is welcome to utilize this space for their peace.

Amen.

(The Peace Pole is uncovered)

Bless this Peace Pole, with its message in 16 representative languages, that it might stand as a both inspiration and encouragement until its message is reality.

Amen.

Bless this Labyrinth, and those who walk its path, that they might be lead to peace within their own lives and into working for peace in the world.

C Amen.
